URBRAIN students shine at AISES National Conference

Students from Diné College, who are also fellows in the CIBS URBRAIN R25 NIH training grant program, participated in the American Indian Science & Engineering Society National Conference in Phoenix (September 23-25, 2021).

The students showcased the work that resulted from an immersive 10-week collaboration at the University of Arizona Center for Innovation in Brain Science. Working with mentors and program lead and principal investigator, Kathleen Rodgers, PhD, these bright students from the Navajo Nation gained valuable knowledge as they continue to advance their education in the neuroscience field.

The Center for Innovation in Brain Science (CIBS) at the University of Arizona is addressing the challenge that, in the 21st century, there is not a single cure for a single neurodegenerative disease and is focused on four age-associated neurodegenerative diseases: Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, Multiple Sclerosis and ALS.
